Fall Children Photos at Ya Ya Apple Orchard Longmont

Family

Looking for fun family ideas for the Fall with kids and family in Colorado? Ya Ya Apple Orchard in Longmont is a local gem and one of the few apple orchards in Colorado. This is a beautiful timeless tradition to celebrate autumn and enjoying the beautiful weather while seeing rows of apple trees. This historic farms also has chickens, turkeys, ducks, mini donkeys and draft horses. The 8 acre farms has 1,000 fruit trees mostly apple, but some cherry, plum and pear. We have also added grapes, blackberries, and raspberries. Inside a rustic wooden barn is homemade apple cider and sugar doughnuts!

The Mom cried happy tears seeing this beautiful portrait of her daughter with this pastoral farm landscape with dreamy big blue sky and clouds. We planned the colors theory during the Design Consultation with the bronze dress and during retouching I brought out the colors to pop! Understanding color theory and blue and orange are complimentary colors which is why it has the vibrant sophisticated contrast. This beautiful masterpiece is wall art in the family’s kitchen so they can enjoy it everyday!

The client loved my unique fine art style and exclaimed she has seen nothing like it and knew Kristy Lehman Photography was the right services to capture her darling toddler! Vibrant Fall colors of yellows, orange and red apple trees add a cozy farm landscape! We selected colors during the Design Consultation that would compliment with the setting with a boutique bronze dress from my client closet. I brought a red wagon as a photography prop to add interest to the composition. The toddler loved the red wagon and it entertained her to capture these candid images at play! This works well to give a toddler a prop or activity especially since she was nonverbal and wouldn’t follow directions. At this age it’s best to keep the toddler happy and capture what they do best to explore and play!

I am well trained to understand light and I have knowledge of natural light and combination of strobe light. However, with toddlers moving around so fast and since she is two years old and not yet talking it worked best to understand her age level and to let her play. If I wanted big beautiful catchlights I would point to the sky she would look up and the cloud light illuminates her eyes to show that sparkle!

I love the size comparison of the vintage Ford truck next to the toddler and to get her to interact with the truck I used a small squeaky toy and would place it on top of the wheel. The father loved the truck images with his daughter because it was nostalgic and reminded him of his childhood.

Other fun props is the lantern so the little tike can walk around and gives the child something to do. I also brought a bag of apples so she can hold, look and eat the apple so the moment was very genuine!

”When I saw Kristy’s portfolio online I knew I wanted her to capture my sweet Oakley! I appreciate her art background as it very much shows in her work. It is truly something special and we will cherish these photographs forever! Her attention to detail, artistic abilities and attention to detail are top notch! Highly recommended. Thank you Kristy!!
